This book takes place about 10 years after the Earth has been destroyed. Cale Tucker is in the care of his foster father, an alien named Tek. Tek was an associate of Cale's father, Sam Tucker, on the Titan project. When the Drej attacked Earth, Sam gave Cale to Tek to take care of, then he left on the Titan spacecraft. The ship is supposedly the last hope of mankind to rebuild a home planet. Sam and the Titan were never seen again.Cale is now around 13 and is living on the ruined planet Vusstra with Tek and his alien step-sister Iji. It has been years since Cale has seen another Human, and Tek is concerned that he's losing his connections to his culture and people. Tek decides to take Cale on a journay to meet other Humans and to learn more about the Drej. Of course, that's when the adventure starts. Cale, Tek, and Iji are attacked by Drej as they travel from planet to planet. Is it chance or something more?
